Born in Chicago, Jonathan Sargent began his musical studies at the age of 5 with the celebrated classical guitarist Irene Lorence. After graduating from Columbia University in New York City, he was granted a full scholarship on the classical guitar in Washington, D.C. with Sophocles Papas (Andres Segovia's emissary in the United States). He continued with graduate studies in musicology, theory and composition with Jose de Azpiazu at the University of Geneva in Switzerland.

Jonathan has performed throughout South America, Eruope and parts of Asia and has appeared on "The Concert Series" on NBC and CBS in New York as both a concert guitarist and composer. Warner Brothers, Sony, and Word Records have recorded his compostitions and arrangements. Most recently, he has served a President of Union Street Records, Nashville.
